★"Doing your best" and "Failing"★
I came across a discussion on LinkedIn (the world's largest professional network)
and thought why not share. The discussion was words that says, "Never stop doing your best just because someone doesn't give you credit." and my instant respond was,
You get the credit knowing that there was nothing more you can do and not having to question yourself, what if i did my best? Do your best for your own satisfaction and there will always be a way of getting it back. When you are the person who do their best despite not getting credit, that is when you will start getting credit.
but then i also came across a quote while searching the topic of doing your best that made me rethink some things and agree looking back at some of my experiences. the quote says,
“Sometimes doing your best is not good enough. Sometimes you must do what is required.”
― Winston Churchill
This quote made me laugh because i remembered an incident that happened with me and my friend in class where we were given an exercise to do and we worked really had on it, but it turned out that everything we did was wrong and it was much easier than we thought it was. I remember telling my friend we should have never gone too far with it and be clever and all, stupidity would have done it better and faster. so really you have to be clever enough to really know how much clever you need to be.
So in the end try, try, try, and try...do your best and maybe the best that is required from you. Even if you fail, failing should only teach you that as much as it is possible to fail, it is far more possible to succeed when you have already known failure. J.K. Rowling says it best,
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default.”
― J.K. Rowling
i don't own this picture.
